Policy

JP Elektroprivreda BiH d.d. – Sarajevo bases its business strategy on the principles of sustainable development. The business activities, development plans, and projects are based on the concept of preventive action and continuous improvement in accordance with valid legislation and standards of environmental protection.

For the implementation of business strategy, priorities are focused on:

-Monitoring and implementation of international obligations of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the electricity sector,

-Generation of electrical and thermal power with the application of best available techniques and use of environmentally acceptable raw materials,

-Preventive maintenance of power plants with reduction of the existing energy losses,

-Building of replacement and high-efficiency cogenerating thermal power units,

-Expansion of district heating network, as a sustainable solution in the energy transition,

-Increasing the share of renewable energy sources in the generation mix,

-Increasing energy efficiency in generation, distribution, and supply,

-Development of electro-mobility projects,

-Quality control of coal and other generation resources, monitoring and reduction of emission of pollutants and harmful substances into the environment,

-Continuous monitoring of watercourses by installing on-line water meter stations,

-Assessment of risk and potential incidents for the environment, planning preventive and intervention measures,

-Appropriate management of harmful and dangerous waste materials,

-Motivation and development of environmental awareness of employees, and their contribution, responsibility, and obligation in the promotion of sustainable development and environmental protection.

The employees are continuously educated with the aim of acquiring necessary knowledge and contributing efficiently to the environmental protection.

Communication is improved continuously with all the levels of government, international organisations, associations of citizens, and all stakeholders in the society.

Subsidiaries and affiliates have adopted their own environmental policies compatible with the environmental policies of JP Elektroprivreda BiH d.d.- Sarajevo.

WP Bitovnja

PROJECT STATUS

·        Project documentation for the "Bitovnja" wind power plant construction project is in progress.

·        The project was financed by the German Development Bank KfW
·        Period of creation of project documentation: 8/2020. –. 10/2023.

·        The project area is entirely located in the Konjic Municipality

The Bitovnja Wind Power Plant is one of the electricity production facilities based on renewable energy sources, planned for implementation within the Long-Term Development Plan of JP Elektroprivreda BiH.

GOALS OF THE PROJECT:

üConstruction of a wind farm as a renewable energy source (RES) in accordance with the principles of sustainable development and environmental protection standards
üReduction of emissions of pollutants and greenhouse gases from fossil fuels into the environment
üMitigation of the impact on climate change
üContribution to security of supply to consumers, using locally available renewable energy sources, as a contribution to the energy transition
üIncreasing the share of energy produced from renewable sources
üDiversification of energy sources for electricity production
üReduction of dependence on imported energy products and energy imports in the future

The assess the impact of VE "Bitovnja" on the environment and society includes the preparation of a preliminary assessment of the project's impact on the environment and society, the monitoring of the baseline condition of birds and bats, and the preparation of a complete study of the impact on the environment and society.

Workshop announcement

05.05.2023.

As part of the development of investment and technical documentation, i.e. the Environmental and Social Impact Assesment Study (ESIA) of the Bitovnja wind farm, a workshop will be organized in the area of MZ Bradina.  The aim is to gather information on the way of using the planned Bitovnja wind power plant project area by the residents and representatives of planning, cycling, hunting and other associations and companies that operate in the area of MZ Bradina, as well as how familiar they are with the project and what are their opinions towards the planned wind farm construction project. 

The workshop will be held on May 16, 2023. year (Tuesday) in the building of Elementary School "Bradina" (MZ Bradina, Town of Konjic) starting at 4:00 p.m.


Workshop report: Support of the population of the MZ Bradina construction of VE "Bitovnja"

23.05.2023.

The workshop was organized by company Oikon d.o.o. The Institute for Applied Ecology from Zagreb which is engaged as a consultant and JP Elektroprivreda BiH d.d. - Sarajevo, as an investor. The aim of the workshop was to introduce the project of the VE "Bitovnja" to a local population, as well as to gather the opinions of the residents of MZ Bradina, representatives of mountaineering, hunting and other societies that use the planned project area.MORE
